The Next Day

September 29th, 2013

Phew! It's finally over! I know, that sounds terrible, but I really am glad for all that planning and stressing out to be done. I have decided that while marriage is great, weddings are completely over rated.  Unless you are either doing a very small affair or hiring a wedding planner, just don't bother.  Eloping is totally a way better idea, then have a informal party for friends and family when you get back.  Even my my maid of honor said after seeing how stressed I was there is no way she isn't hiring a wedding planner.  Kim said she is just doing a court house wedding and Amanda said she doing it a simple and cheaply as possible. All good options.

Anyway, when all was said and done we both felt waaay better.  And we got to relax at the B&B we stayed at for our wedding night, which was the Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg, KY.  It was just about a 15 minute drive from the venue and B-E-A-U-tiful.  Sadly we didn't arrive until after it was dark so we didn't get to enjoy the grounds but the main building was so pretty and our room was awesome. It had a real vintage theme going on, which I love.

Our lovely room

creepy stairs in our room...that go to a locked door!

Matt personally feel in love with the jaccuzi in the room since he had never got to use one before
And finished our stay with an amazing buffet breakfast

We left a bit early from the B&B so we could go home to pack up all the wedding gifts and then go help clean up the venue.  Sadly we couldn't get a thing from the actual wedding decor into the car since we also had the dog and rats.

After helping clean up we headed up to Aunt Betsy's to see the rest of the family before they went back to California.  I had really hoped to get to have a day after brunch with everyone, but that didn't work out.  Instead we had a late lunch with the family.  I felt like I was imposing on Aunt Betsy because I asked if Matt's parents could come and the other bridal party members.  But it all worked out because Matt's parents always leave to go home ridiculously early in the morning (like 7am early), and Audrey wanted to head home sooner as well.  Sidd and Ellena made it though which was nice.  We had quite a bit of leftover from the wedding, so we munched on those and other goodies Aunt Betsy had made. And Uncle Jim made the most amazing smoked salmon.  Matt couldn't stop raving about it.  He has never complimented my cooking like that :) Now I know what I need to work towards.

It was nice getting to spend time with all the family.  Uncle Moe said we need to come see them sometime in California so Matt is all up for that.  I feel like my family is not the kind where everyone feels close to each other.  Probably because we mostly love pretty far from each other.  I would like to change that.  I just wish people would call me for once instead of expecting me to think of calling them.  My parents always say they don't call because they never know when I'm busy.  I'll tell you when I'm busy, from 9am-4pm, and even that is negotiable.

We embarked on our 9 hour journey back home around 4pm.  We got home around 3am (1 hour time difference so total trip was 10 hours).  Even though we were both tried and just wanted to crash, Matt still made sure to carry me over the threshold of the house.  And so begins our new life together.
