New Experiences, Here and There

I've always loved traveling and have actually done quite a bit of it in my opinon.  Surpisingly I have traveled more in Europe than in my own country.  I've been to England, Ireland, France, Germany, Holland, and hopefully many more places soon to come.  But I love exploring everywhere.  Any new place can be an adventure.  You don't just have to get a plane to have a blast.  So this is all about my expereinces, both here and abroad.

Being Foster Parents...to Dogs that is
One of the first things i new I wanted to do when we moved to Kansas City was to find the perfect dog to add to our family. In my opinion the best way to do that is to actually have a dog in your home, around your family.  Dogs can be completely different when they are in the shelter, so it's best to get them in a more comfy environment to see what they are really like.  So we decided to become doggie foster parents for Wayside Waifs, and Kansas City Pet Project and boy has it been fun so far...sometimes...

Working In France

Sept 27th, 2012 to Jan 12th, 2013 I lived and worked in Orleans, France.  I'm working as an English Teaching Assistant for Lycee Jean Zay (French high school) and I taught students ages 14 to about 20.  I'm was there because of a program the French Department of Education has to help bring native speakers to France to teach their language and culture called the Teaching Assistat Program in France (TAPIF)  There were a lot of people from all over who have come to teach, not only English, but German and Spanish as well.  I was 1 of about 50 assistants in the Orelans-Tours region of France (also known as Le Centre).  Some taught high school like me, some middle school (collège) and some elementary school (primaire).  We all had about 12 hours of classes to teach per week, and yes we did get paid, though not a ton mind you.  I'll get into the details and my experiences in further posts.  So I hope you enjoy reading about a big adventure abroad!
